    Forged 2V Project

    So far I have:

    98 4.6 Teksid block
    - Standard bore

    2003 PI heads
    - PI cams

I plan on getting (don't have) a forged cobra crank, H-beams, and possibly 18-23 cc pistons depended how the deck comes out. The PI heads are only going to get mild port for gasket matching and taking the lump off the camber. Keeping the PI cams. Meziere electric water pump and high flow FRPP oil pump with SHM gears as well. Upgrading to the 9 PSI pulley along with 40 # injectors and 90mm MAF.

If anyone has or know of parts or just want to be helpful I'm always open for suggestions and comments.

Well most of them are an iron block which weighs about 150 pounds, this aluminum block has about half the weight of only 80-something pounds. Plus they're good for about 1000 horsepower if built that way. Yeah I sold the Probe so I'm not really on the Probetalk boards any more. That was maybe the third time she has seen snow? Anyway hope you're doing well, see you around!

i would recc. the supercharger cams for that build use the manley rods and id suggest cp pistons that combo should be good for 950 fwhp i would also suggest studding the heads

well i would check into livernois or v.t. for cams. instead of head bolts it is a threaded stud into the block the gasket then the head slide over the top then its nutted down, makes it stronger and with less head and gasket movement

The fastest 2V modular stuff in the country is coming out of MPH, (Modular Powerhouse). http://www.modularpowerhouse.com

They have a 2.8 KB blower car that makes over 900rwhp on a 2v motor. The 4v engines aren't even close to that kind of power with a PD blower. Their combination of compression, cam and head work is flat-out nuts. I would talk to those guys before I spent another dime, if I were you.

I doubt that head or main studs are a necessity at your planned boost level, but they sure couldn't hurt. It's never a bad thing to overbuild, because you never know when you might want to step it up...

for the cost arp studs are reusable whereas it is not recommended to reuse bolts for the heads
    Just lurking....

IMO that's the curse of the modular... in for a penny, in for a pound. You just can't go half way. There is no such thing as a budget build....they are too expensive not to spend the money.

    Cool build BTW.

the only prob. i forsee is if i recall studded 2v you cant get the head off on one side i thought it was right side, you may want to check into that, either way i would still do the studs over bolts if you have any ambition to make bigger power

Stay away from VT. They went down the shitter lately since Scott left
Call comp cams and get custom grinds or call Jay Allen at Camshaft Innovations and he can do a set for ya.
Pistons. I would reccomend Diamond. That is whom I plan on going with on my 5.4 build.
Very excellent quality, little more expensive but worth it from what I have seen.
ARP. I would suggest running as much ARP stuff as you can afford. Simply the best. TTY stuff sucks.
If you are looking to talk to someone about this build call either Tim Matherly @ MV Performance or the Tymensky's at Modular Performance. Can't go wrong with either...heard some horror stories at Livernois though, including cust. service issues.

Define budget build? Unlike a 5.0 you don't have to get a new set of heads, intake, ect
You can DIY a turbo system on a 2V and run 11's all day long with pretty much not many other upgrades. You can get used stuff for Mod Motors all over the place too, just need to know where to look and what to look for.
There are at least 4 or 5 Mod Motor sites/forums that you can find everything for a budget bulid.
