    Question about Mustang insurance

Been tossing around the idea latly about maybe getting a 03-04 Cobra but i had a question about what insurance companies do as far as what the classify that as. Can you just say it's a regular V8 Mustang? Or since it comes back with Cobra is that what they say it is? And how much more do you think it could be over a regular GT? i know i should just call but i'd be afraid that if i called i might jinx myself.

Our Mach is about... 20-30 more per month than a GT... I'd assume that the Cobra would be a few more dollars more yet...

exactly what joe said, it'll be more. if you only insure a mustang GT, they'll only pay out for a mustang GT, not a cobra, if something did happen

actually they wouldn't have to cover anything if you lied about the car.

Then again with VIN numbers and decoders now a days, they'll catch ya anyways if you try to pass it off as something that it isn't...

Yeah I tried passing off the SHO as just a regular Taurus, but as soon as the adjuster put in the VIN, she asked if it was a SHO.

Get some quotes from different insurance companies (and the one you currently use) for the different models of Mustangs to see if the difference is worth it. You can also take into consideration while you are talking with the different insurance companies about storage insurance during certain months of the year, since chances are you wouldn't be driving a Cobra in winter. Since the cost may go down, you might be able to justify a bigger insurance cost during the rest of the year.

All are correct....that is why there are a few people out there who want a v8 fox and look for a 4 banger body and drop the 8 in....honestly for full coverage insurance, with your age, the price difference shouldnt make that much of a difference.....having a 2nd vehicle helps.....if you dont mind paying as much in insurance as your car payment, then go for it.

Yeah I was actually thinking more of engine swaps and such.
I know someone who was in a accident and actually wasn't covered because his tires were found to have been purposely under inflated. His passenger died and he went to prison, on top of that he was found guilty in a wrongful death suit for a gagillion $$.

Flick, when I traded in my 06 tC for my 2000 GT, my insurance went from 120 a month full coverage to $72 a month. It may be cheaper than you think.

I think if you're young and have any sort of record with the DMV, the Termy is gonna have you bendin over with no lube. And nowadays all you give them is the VIN and they know what the car is. Get the VIN off one from ebay that's for sale and call it in. Hell, grab one from a same-year GT and have them run that too just for comparison.
