    unconcealed carry????

so i've been reading up a bit on the concealed carry laws .... even my old home of California allows concealed carry..... but was wondering.... what are the laws for unconcealed carry in this state? I know alot of people carry a sidearm when hunting...a co-worker has something like 50 cal sidearm cus he encounters bear up north from time to time. So if the gun is visible, ie in a holster, is it legal to walk around with it?? i would say no but the curiousity has gotten the better of me

Yep.That's why you never see it happen. It's odd that in WI we can have SBR's and Full Auto's but can't be trusted by our socialist gov to carry a firearm for self protection.

Some Canadian guides told me if you're gonna try and shoot a pissed off angry bear with a pistol, you better save the last round or 2 for yourself.

It is legal to carry a firearm as long as it is visible. It cannot be carried into banks, liquor stores or any state / federal buildings.

You could be arrested if someone claims that you were "brandishing" the firearm but they would have to testify to that in court. The police will not arrest you for disturbing the peace, you are well within your rights.

Yes it is legal but like everyone said there's no way you would get away with actually doing it. Prepared to be harrassed.

A confronted bear is still as scared as most umans are...

However... A wounded bear is most definitely not going to be a happy bear. Not a chance I'm sure I'm willing to take...

Thats why you can carry. You have a permit. You can produce on demand you have the right to carry. Wisconsin has many double standards.

I do explosives/demo work on the side. Anyone with a high explosives manufacturing/usage permits can apply for a carry permit on the federal level. As the goverment sees it, they do not want that stuff falling into the wrong hands. I also do volunteer work for the Milwaukee PD bomb squad.

I would love to have a federal carry. But I guess that will never happen. Why do you have a Fed Carry? Not to be noisy just wondering. PM if you want it not its cool to. Also do you still need propane tank?

If you're out in the woods hunting, it is legal to carry a sidearm as long as it is not concealed in any way. If you think about it, you can carry a shotgun or rifle while hunting, so this is no different. The DNR just emphasizes that the handgun has to be plainly visible. This is real common out west where outfitters will often carry a sidearm in the event they run into a grizzly or cougar. Now if you were walking down HWY 100 with a 6 shooter on your hip, you're probably going to have some issues.

As long as you're not going to try and take a grizzly down with a 9mm, and go more with a .500 S&W, you shouldn't have problems killing it. A lot of times people think the smaller calibers will kill a grizzly, but I have heard stories where the bullets basically ricochet off the grizzly's skull because the bone is so thick. Moral to the story: Carry a big handgun.
