    Builds part deux

Got my Gew 88 bolt from centerfire, better than the barreled actions.
Needs a bolt head and a couple other pieces. I think I am going to order a new parts Gew88 from OWS, they are supposed to be more complete.

Also if I get time this weekend I am going to press in my cetme barrel.

I also got around to shellacing my ak furniture, used zinser amber, looks pretty decent.

    That is all

Been cleaning up the best of the 3 receiver / barrel combo's . It's one with a czech barrel which are supposed to be .318 bores, unlike the more common .323 bores for 8mm. They say Remington commercial 8mm is safe to shot in these, but not the hotter surplus or current euro ammo. Actually got some shine out of it. Not in too bad of shape for being in a shed in Ecuador for 70+ years some pitting but hey it was $8.
The sad part is the receiver markings are the faintest of the 3 (all are 1890 Spandau's which is an odd luck of the draw). But if nothing else I have a couple cool 117 year old paperweights

Not a build exactly, but drilled and taped my Rem 514 .22. Went much easier than I had anticipated. As I started to research this project, I read many horror stories about the metal being very hard. It wasnt a big deal. I bought Weaver bases, Warne rings and I used a BSA Contender I had laying around. Shoots much better than I thought it would, 10 shots the size of a dime at 25yds. Now I need to do something about the trigger, it feels like sandpaper lol.

Well I think I may give up on the Gew88 build. I just read OWS is out of parts guns and I saw a pic of a recent shipment. not good.
I may just buy an already done one eventually.
I am thinking about a flat build for a CETME/G3. and getting an RC K98K.
And some parts for my 64 and maybe a romy kit

    Bar stool time!

May do that, or may just part them out. The receivers are good on all 3 and have a couple good parts on them .

He was right at $650 for parts. That's without the ACOG. We took it to the range today, it fired 100% for all 100rds.

How do you register a gun like that, that is all custom? Will it still have a serial number on part of the gun?

Wisconsin doesnt really have a active "weapon registry" like california does. Unless the reciever was purchased new from an FFL, there is most likely no actual federal paperwork of whom the current owner of it is.

    Ok, so how about this...

What do I need if I wanted a build like that(registration wise, legality wise, etc...)

Does WI have a magazine limit? I see people advertising 30rd and 10rd depending on state laws?

In wisconsin, if its semi automatic, you can own it. If you want to run around with a 100rd mag hanging out of your AR, go for it.

You do not need anything to buid a gun like that, just buy the parts through your local FFL or about a million other ways.

This is true. And then the only part that needs a transfer thru an FFL is the lower reciever, unless you buy from a private party, or make it your self for YOUR OWN USE and would be destroyed or serial numbered before transfer to another perty.

But lets say on the AK-74 I was building, I make my own reciever, I do NOT need serial # untill I would transfer the weapon (then I need to put mfr, caliber, model, place of origin). because tecnically I made the "firearm" or reciever.

Ok, cool. I'm just looking at the pieces and parts and building my own. Been reading over on AR15.com on the build guides and assembly manual stuff. Looks "fairly" easy, as long as you pay attention.

So if I purchase a stripped lower reciever and the parts kit through any one of a million online sources, I will be ok right?

Or would it be better to go through Badger Outdoor or Cabella's or something?
