Yeah PB and heat from my propane torch didn't work. Heat and wax didn't work. My buddy got it out for me with a mill and some chisel/punch/ torch work. It seemed like the bolt was hardened, it laughed at drill bits
    That bolt was no joke.
Now just have to paint it and swap them. Famous last words......

Got the Manual box in ,only about 4 1/3 turns lock to lock
crappy cellphone pic and before I adjusted the column so the new ragjoint wasn't all out of sorts

Yesterday I started another project on the car.
This will either turn out well or will turn out as a "but it looked so easy on that website" type project
I was going to pay to have the seat recovered, but I looked in my wallet and I didn't see any money in their with the cobwebs and moths
So I started by taking the old covers of of the pass seat. Yes covers as in two. I bought this seat set from an Olds guy down in Racine Co., they are from a 64 Cutlass Sport Coupe. He got them from either NV or AZ I forget, both covers were trashed from the heat and sun. The foam is crispy , but the springs, frame and tracks are in good shape.

Clearly red seats aren't going to go with a blue car, unless I was Superman or something

Hmm looks like the cloth insert used to be red too

Like an onion these seats have layers

I've taken a ton of pics all over so far to make re assembly easier. We'll see how it goes

Well I ordered a couple things from my favorite supplier yesterday
Since I want to use my cast alum Oldsmobile script valve covers, and they are really tall. I had either order a tiny brake booster or convert to manual brakes.
Manual it is, while I was at it I switched to a dual res master. Because 4 wheel drum brakes are suicide enough without the suicide master

So yesterday I ordered vette style master and manual brake pushrod, along with some seals so I can repack the wheel bearings while I throw the new shoes on.

Been playing with it more lately.
Converted to a dual reservoir master and to manual brakes with the pushrod now cut and installed.

New brakes hoses front and rear, new brake lines from master to dist block, and from dist block to rf wheel. New line from Master joined to rear line.

New brake lines are easier when you don't have to route around engine and headers in an already tight engine compartment.

Also got a new bushing installed for shifter linkage, as the 46 year old original one is missing.

Didn't realize it had been this long since I've done anything to the car.

Well I've made the vow that the car will be running and driving this year. Enough procrastinating, life's too short as has been shown to me all to well as of late. Seat covers/door panels are getting done by someone who knows what they are doing (ie. not me ) soon as I get my tax money back, so I imagine they are going in to get done in February.
Sometime this week I need to get some kerosene for the heater too.

So my list of whats left is...

    1) Carb (either redoing my Holley or redoing one of my Q-jets)
    2) Seats recovered
    3) Console refurbed ( new carpet for the sides and new paint for the top)
    4) Misc hoses for engine
    5) Shocks
    6) Check out the wiring harness, I have an extra if needed
    7) Armrests
There may be a few other items too, but that's the main stuff.

It won't be perfect, but it will be my fun street car with some trips to the track with friends. Once its running and driving improvements will come.

Then it will be onto my wife's car.....
