    which cam?

    right now i'm not sure if i want to do any head work. this is why i would go with the lt4 hot cam kit. this kit has proven itself over and over to put out decent numbers. my other option is the cc306. here are the specs
    230 / 244, .510 / .540 112 LSA, - cc306
    218 / 228, .525 / .525 112 LSA Lift #'s w/1.6 Rockers - lt4 hot cam
    any opinions would be very helpful.

    Want good numbers as for HP wise, get custom grind and head work.

    Big always isnt the best, you can actually lose power with out the proper mods.

    Are you going to be rebuilding the bottom end w/ more displacement?

    ^^ not for awhile i still owe money on the car not much but still enough. thats why i figure the lt4 cam will surve its purpose very well.

    I had a lt4 hot cam kit with a set of loydd elliot heads. Drove it a bit for 2k miles. Had a slight slight tune on it and the car went good......then I got a ls1.

    What kind of tranny do you have?

    Also, like mentioned, what are the supporting mods?

    If you are considering a CC306, if you have an automatic, you are going to NEED a high stall (2800-3200 stall) to take advantage of the cam, you will need decent headers, exhaust, cold air, and if it is an auto and oyu think you are going to manually shift it, you will also need a tranny is short order (4l60e trannys do NOT like to be manually shifted)...

    Now, if you have a T56, you will still need most of the above mentioned items as well as a decent clutch (Spec Stage 2 at least, or a Mcleod Dual friction for example)...

    And in either case you will need taller gears to make use of the powerband of the cam (4.11s if you have a T56 and 3.73s if you have an auto)...

    Nice thing about a LT4 HOT cam is it produces a nice solid bump in the torque band, a nice bump in peak HP and scales well with supporting mods if you don't have them right away... Plenty of people making 400-425 at the motor with this cam, heads, headers, cold air... Don't forget you NEED to run 1.6 rockers with this cam... With REALLY good ported heads, and everything setup to maximize the power produced, people have made over 450hp at the motor... Pretty nice for a cam that passes emissions...

    The CC306 NEEDS heavy mods to make the most of it, and without them you pretty much are giving up a lot of driveability because of the reduced torque band, higher powerband and overall low peak HP gains until everything else is done... Exhaust tone sounds narly, but there is better out there...

    To me your best bet would be to do the heads also. The lt1 heads suck as they sit and are the key to making big power. I ran the cc306 on a 114 lsa with home ported heads all supporting mods and a M6 with 3.42 gears with great results. Spend some money on the heads and either go custom or bigger then the lt4.

    As said earlier you post whores- Im running the 'only the' CC305, crane gold 1.6 rr's, comp pushrods & proper supporting mods. I had PCM4Less make a chip for me as no one dyno tunes 92-93 prom based LT1's around here.
    My TPiS/AFR heads definately 'made' my motor what it is and it can hold its own against most cars out there- AND I have LONGEVITY & RELIABILITY. Linky to heads very similar to mine - http://www.tpis.com/index.php?module...AFR+Cyl.+Heads

    My current mod package is 5 years/45K miles old and couldn't be happier and I expect it to last much longer. Overall, the car has about 145K on it and the bottom end is just now giving me minor issues.

    I had Darrells Transmissions in Waukesha do a beefy rebuild of my 700R4 last spring with a manual valve body because I couldn't shake the habit of shifting it manually. They also had a custom stall made by some shop in Chicago. That project ran about $2,600

    However that custom trans was worth it, smoothest auto I have ever been in.......What was it, we were doing 90 and I didn feel it shift once?
