    DSM ?'s

I might pick up a 1990 eagle talon for under $2k bone stock it is a tsi.

How much power can i get out of it with a 16g turbo & FMIC?
    Will I need bigger injectors?
    New fuel pump?
    What about tuning?

    Thanks,
    Mike

LOL, the true meaning of DSM...DontStartModding. A K&N drop-in filter even causes problems

Don't let them discourage you with all the DSM bashing. It is one of the best platforms to build off of as long as it is done correctly. AWD and turbo will hand alot of cars their a**es on the street. Just be sure to read the vfaq and dsm forums so you build it correctly. A 16G with supporting mods can reach 11s. A few things you may need with a 16G are:
    190 or 255 pump
Full 3" exhaust including downpipe and port o2 housing
    Port turbo and manifold
    Aftermarket clutch
    Boost controller
    550-660cc injectors
    Intake setup/K&N filter
    Boost gauge
    Some type of tuning/engine management

As long as the rest of the basic maintenance is done and their are no major issues you that would be a pretty good recipe for low 12s, high 11s

+1 for that... 1990 has some differences... but if you do your research you'll have no problem... well the little one

Cant complain about the DSM's personally. Its kinda like your next door neibors kid Johny... He may need alitte "extra" attention, but BOY he can make you laugh time to time. Running around with his little helmet on and falling down stairs...

Dont be too worried about the 90. Most of the differences in parts can be dealt with if it ever becomes a problem. The 16G route is a fun one. They are really fun cars on the street like that as well. AND... They dont need slicks to hook, or get blown off the freeway because they are too light, in order to run in the 11s with that turbo.

Email me if you have any questions and I will be more than willing to give you my point of view and parts, vendors, whatever.

I think saying most people can get a 16G into the 11's is a bit of a stretch. It would take some STELLAR driving and one good tune to do so. And the moons would have to align and be downwind and...

Junk, don't you have a '90 lying around?

I think traction will be the only thing stopping him from getting into the 11's. But easily obtainable with that turbo. Almost makes me want to do it all over again.....ALMOST.

FACK NOO! I'm done with broke a$$ dsm's ie; (1g-2g ect) Buying the EVO is actually a real car and reliable. As far as buying a 90', well thats the MUT year. Honestly if you really want a 1g, try to find a early 92' awd with the 1g big rods, big brakes, and the 4 bolt rear end. A very nice combo and a lot better to work off of especially if you have future plans of wasting your money and throwing it into the sky.
