2007 NHRA RULE CHANGES ! "Get your Diapers on guys"

I don't know if this a good idea....Mandatory engine diapers??????

These have a 1 year expiration cost around $800.....

    http://www.nhra.com/content/news.asp...17364&zoneid=8

If GLD is checking for this in 07 I can honestly say I may just run my car to 10.00 ET's under 135 MPH.....I'm NOT going to have a $800 engine diaper on my car that is only good for one year of racing......My car was made to be 80 % street driven so that new diaper rule makes it too expensive to run the car under 10.00 at the track .....

What do you guys think about this??????

    Yep !!

Pro Street "no Diaper" .....can not go quicker than 10.00 and 135 MPH?????

Unless some place makes a cheaper diaper set up or one that techs longer I will have a car that will only go as close to 10 Ohs at 134 as possible........

Oh well, I will let this "pan out" and see what happens.....I guess I will not have to add nitrous to my combo now as I was planning to.....

    fast guys ......

I kind of feel bad for the guys who were planning on going MUCH faster than I was shooting for.....

I can drive a my set up to 10 oh's pretty easy as the car was only going mid / low 9s "full out" N/A ......But , you gotta feel for the "crazy guys " here like Scotty K, Boss, Mark and Bobbie as their cars are faster and really would be no fun slowed to only 10 ohs......Those guys don't have much of a choice to do the diaper dealy........

yep many up dates for us so that are some of the stuff we have to do this coming yr....

I think they will be looking hard for blankets this next yr ... along with antifreez in motors ..

I heard if you have NOS or any power adder on the car with antifreez you wont be able to run...

they will only be letting stock lookn cars with out power adders with antifreez
i cant remember what the tech guy said on how much time they spent this yr on clean ups on oil/ antifreez ,, he said it averaged out about to 4-5 hrs a nite on clean ups

    Rules

I can understand that the new rules do make it safer to run it's just that unless those diapers get cheaper to buy or will tech longer I really think a lot of guys will not be able to race.....The diaper rule could add $800 to each season of racing.....If you don't race a lot those could be some expensive runs you are making.....

    rules

I guess this new rule really does not matter for the really fast cars that race a lot....The cars that might be affected the most are the mid to high 9 second street cars that might only race a few times times a year...

if they did come out with a cheaper version it would make it safer. and it would keep the track cleaner f there was a break, i think it is a good idea. but why the every year thing? im sure they will last longer than that..

it is like seat belts every two years. mine are 4 yrs old and im sure they will work the same as 1 yr old ones.. its a good way to make money i think

I assume that the diaper is going to be just like seat belts where you don't have to throw them out when they expire. You would just need to send them to the manufacture to have them re-sewed after they expire.

    Attn: everybody...

You only need an engine diaper *IF* "all Comp competitors" applys to YOU.

unless you're racing super gas, super comp, pro stock, ect.....you dont have to worry.
I like to race at the real street drags at GLD because it's legal and safe for everybody.
