I haven't read through the articles, but here are a few pics.

Actually I'm not sure if this is the motor. But I'll show it anyway.

BAAAAAD ASSSSSSSSSS! The best part is, if Chevy introduces this car, perhaps prices of the current Z/06 will drop to something approaching affordable for us mere mortals...

That motor isn't the Vette motor. I actually think someone posted the story on it here a couple months ago.

It's nice to see GM investing so much time and energy into a car only a handful of people will enjoy. That's much better then putting the time and effort into cars that might actually sell 10's of thousands of. I didn't realize Ferrari and Lambo were cutting into GM sales so much.

It'll almost certainly be built. Chevy still has to answer the Ford GT, and has to be ready for an all new viper in 08

There are rumors of a one year Mclearan produced SRT-10 Viper that'll be producing 650+hp with an S/C for 07, since there will be NO 07 model year viper's. The all-new viper coming in 08 will use a hemi headed V-10 design making 650ish hp N/A.

Halo cars actually make GREAT economic sense for car companies...build the car, and TONS of free-advertising comes along, plus building brand loyalty with all those kids who dream of owning one works great...there are far more reasons why it works as well.

But don't count on the z06 getting cheaper. If this vette is 100G's, that's no reason to make the z06 cheaper than teh 65G it currently goes for....

When I mentioned the car getting cheaper, I meant on the used market. The rich guys that bought the current model might dump them to buy this new giant killer, and help improve the pricing situation a bit. Who knows?

Some of us can only hope! Doesnt the current Z06 give the Ford GT a run for its money? If so, I cant see why this one wont blow its doors off! For the haters, aside from brand loyalty, what exactly is out on the market that can offer what the Z06 does for the money.

Nothing that I can think of. Closest would perhaps be a Viper, but they are what? $15k more or so?

lol, I just thought of this. Not that I'm comparing the two, but I just thought of how srt-4 owners say you can't buy a faster car for 20 grand.

Just think what Veyron owners can say, you cannot buy a faster car under 1.5 million.

From what I've read, people who own a C6 Z06 and a GT say the GT is faster. A ZO6 with an intake and a tune beats a stock GT according to this video.

So $$ for $$ the Z06 is still the better deal?

By far, unless you're looking for exclusivity. The Ford GT will have far more collector value than any current 'Vette. And mod wise, the GT will own a Z in $$ spent. Headers, a pulley and tune equal 650+ rwhp on a GT. I've only seen or heard of one new Z approaching those numbers, and it had quite a few mods including some internal engine work. However, not being a gozillionaire, I have to look at what I can afford and, unless I hit the Powerball, it sure as hell isn't going to be a Ford GT. I can't even imagine owning a C6 Z/06 until they get a few years on 'em. Until then, I be a Cobra driving, broke-ass fool.
