    I also need help

So um.... the cobra I'm selling, its been starting and running for the past month no problem. Brand new battery, even checked it and its full. I go to start it today and it starts to turn over then just stops.. now all it does is click near the front passenger side corner under the hood. Car is sitting on grass and is lowered so I cant get under it for ish... I'm thinking/hoping the starter maybe froze up? any other ideas? i tried looking from above but cant find the starter from there.. anyone know exactly were it is.. maybe i can just tap it to free it up? had to do that with my old escort every other day hehe

Sounds like it's not getting enough juice, whether it be a bad battery, starter cable, or ground, it's hard to say. Get a car over by it and trying actually jump starting it with the other car running.

Just tried that, checked the cables on the battery. all good. tried to jump in with my truck, battery guage reading at the R/M of Normal. Just clicks. I'll keep screwin with it, probably pull the battery out and throw it on a trickle charge for a while.

The battery cable to the starter is probably corroded at the starter. It's most likely going to be all green.

It does sound like a lack of juice, clean the battery connections, you hear the starter solenoid clicking, but it wont even turn over?
could be the starter, but doubtful, I think battery related.

Had the same problem with my 91 gt.

One new starter later the problem was fixed.

If you have a volt meter, check to see if you are getting 12volts to the starter with the key turned to crank. If no volts there, trace to the solenoid. Check solenoid to see if you are getting 12volts on input from battery side and 12volts to starter side.

*If you are doing this by yourself get a voltmeter with an alligator clip for the positive and negative so that you can set the meter up under the hood and read from inside the car.

when i worked for ford we changed those 4.6 and 5.4L starters all the time. I have had a few of those cables corrode at the starter omthose cars too. I'm almost sure it is the starter. you should be able to hit it from the top with a prybar, it is just below the rear of your right header.

with mustangs, is the solenoid mounted on the starter?

anyway, cross the 2 posts on the solenoid to see if it engages the starter. if it engages fine, you know the problem is elsewhere in the car. just my 2 cents, maybe it could help you eliminate some possibilities.

Alright so she fired right up today no problem. I think it's something with the clutch sensor when you start it. Can't remember the actual name of the thing. Only because I had to push the pedal really hard.. but then it started perfectly. Oh well, hopefully it'll get sold soon. Doesn't seem like there's a real problem, just have to push the clutch ALL the way in when you start it hehe

I think your price is too high on that car. If the price was reasonable you wouldn't have this problem. I bought a 97 cobra 3years ago for 10k with 75k on the odometer when I was living in florida.
I personally get more satisfaction out of outrunning a more powerful car and having everyone know that I just drove the car within an inch of it's life to win
