Thread: Tuning shops?

    Tuning shops?

I have a 1986 TA with a TPI and I wanted to modify my engine, but I do not want to mess around with all the computer stuff. I was wondering if anyone knew a good tuning shop around here.

what cha got done so far??? the MAF cars have always been known to be pretty mod friendly for the most part anyway
Well, at the very least, I have an interesting back story.

Most likely you have a 305 TPI. If so, I would save your money and put it towards a different engine.

It had cat-back on it when I bought it, but I am thinking of putting headers and y-pipe on.

well the stock TPI w/ MAF has always been known to be mod friendly.

first order of business would be to build up a 355 or better on a stand, and be gone with that 305.

sadly '86 was known for being the weakest year of tuned port fuel injection.

honestly the stock 305 isn't worth spending any time on if you want a quick car. my girlfriends 2006 mariner that thankfully is leaving tommorow for a 06 Mustang (cylinders not yet decided) totally whupped up on my trans am. it was sad. very sad.
Well, at the very least, I have an interesting back story.

After they have been replaced with something bigger, they do make great small boat anchors and easily push out of the back of pickup trucks doing 70 mph!

you can put a 350 in with minor mods with no prob. you might want to get little bigger injectors though i think my brother bought inj from summit for $29.

Hey 305's aren't that bad! I mean they can give newer 4cyls quite the run for their money.

And you should see the sparks, tumbling, taking out of mailboxes and chunks of asphalt that fly when the 70 mph assult happens!

Sounds a lot more exciting than anything it could accomplish while mounted in a vehicle!
