Stay with the 5-speed. Don't make it another "point and shoot" car. My .02.

Auto's aren't any cheaper once you factor in the trans, convertor and all the other stuff you will need to make it work.

I have a couple 'point and shoot' cars I guess, and they are pretty fun, I got tired of the back of the cars trying to pass up the front. lol
They both have advantages and disadvantages, just decide whats the majority of your driving wants...

When I get a 03-04 I'm gonna do Sam's "point and shoot" mod to mine as well.

I have both kinds. And I'm becoming more fond of the "point and shoot" setup myself...

Well lost every gear but 4th on the way to work today.
If anyone knows someone that has a auto set up for a reasonable price drop me a line.
I personally get more satisfaction out of outrunning a more powerful car and having everyone know that I just drove the car within an inch of it's life to win

I agree that the Auto cars are the way to go for all out quickest setup (you'll never outshift an auto...) just my opinion that the manual cars are more fun to drive. As it has been said so many times, to each his own.

I seriously recommend TSI in Addision, Illinois. Don is the man, alot of guys here run glides, AOD's, C4's, th400, 350's, etc, without any problems!
I have had 5 of his trannys that worked perfect!
