I have a 2002 Silverado, came stock with the 16" aluminum wheels. I want to lift, but dont want to buy new wheels because im poor. Would a set of 33x12.5's fit on these stock wheels or are the wheels not wide enough?

The wheels are not wide enough for a 33x12.5. A 285/75/16 or a 305/75/16 will work. Are your t-bars cranked all the way up?

If you look under the front of your truck you will see a torsion bar on the passenger and drivers side. It runs from the front suspension back to the driver/passenger door. That is the torsion bar. The cross member by the driver/passenger door will have a Bolt in it that screws up and down. Screw the bolt in and it puts more tension on the torsion bar. Screw it out and it puts less tension on the bar. The more tension, the higher your front end will sit and the stiffer the suspension will be. You can crank them up 3-6 turns. You can go more, but it is hard on the pitman/idler arms. Count the amount of turns you put on one bolt and do the same amount to the bolt on the other side. When adjusting the bolt, jack the front end up so the tire for the side you are working on is off the ground. You will need a front end alignment after adjusting the torsion bars up.

You are going to want longer shocks to....they will bottom out in the right situation....

On a 2500 HD, the shocks are fine with the bars cranked. I'm not sure about the 1500, but I don't think it will be a problem with stock torsion bar keys. I've never heard anyone complain and it would not make sense for GM to put shocks on that would not travel far enough for the stock suspension.

Not sure about the 2500 myself..... Only really familiar with the dodge setup. I know on the 1500's if you crank the t-bars you need longer shocks and you can actually increase wheel travel to a point without hurting anything. There 2500's are solid axle......not sure about the chevy....

Chevys/GM are all IFS...with no shock travel problems that I'm aware of with bars cranked.
