    WTB: LS1 cam

Looking for a used or new LS1 cam (not the stock one). Prefer it to be compatible or work with stock heads and LS6 springs. A mild to medium grind is fine but not looking for a big cam, just something alittle more agressive than a Z06 cam. I'm not a pro at distingishing different spec #s, but I do have an idea on what works and doesn't. PM me or post. Thanks!

BTW, I'm also looking for someone to install or help install a cam with valve springs for a reasonable price. I don't have the tools or know-how to install it myself.

Im installing a 224/224-.581.581 112 LSA cam in another members 02' RamAir right now.

Its a very good, all over torque cam... Not peaky at all and really makes a noticable diff over stock.

That is the one i would reccomend fo you, along with the proper push rods and springs.

A cam install on GTO is easier than a F body. So it can be turned around ina day or two.

^^^ got the same cam with chrome moly push rods and comp 918 valve springs and a ls6 oil pump makes good power and has good torque. was one of the best things i did to this car that and the stall converter. oh and it has a nice lope to it as well.
edit: tom recomended the cam to me and i went with it great choice that i didn't have to make and great for a daily driver thats not way overlly aggresive. thanks again Tom.

Thanks for the help, I did not figure I needed pushrods too. I thought the cam and LS6 springs would just do the job. These pushrods I have to get, are they supposed to be stock LS1 lenght (7.4)?

Yeah LS6 springs are only good to like .550 lift.

The stock push rods are rather flimsy, and with a cam that has fast lobe rates they dont survive to long w/o bending.

The engine revs so wickedly fast after a cam, thats the most fun part!

7.400" length rod is what you want, and Comp "918" springs.

I have a couple cams just sitting here....

Let me know if one interests you, and we'll go from there...

Thunder Racing Custom Camshaft - 224/224 .563/.563 112 LSA 1700-6600 RPM Power Band. Excellent mid-range & high RPM power. Requires computer tuning on automatic transmission cars. Due to the fast ramp rate of this camshaft, the use of 1.8 rockers is not recommended

    Texas Speed 231/237 .598/.595 112 LSA Camshaft

1700-6500 RPM Power Band; This is an excellentperformance camshaft with a awesome idle! Custom tuning required

This is probably one of Texas Speed's most well known camshafts. The 231/237 camshaft features lobes that are designed to make good horsepower & promote long spring life.

Both cams only have less than 5K miles on them.

brian, out of curiousity what are you looking for price wise for the hotter cam?

I need to start piecing together a new heart for the goat.

I'm definately interested, I did have my heart set on the HPE-S Cam (238/242, .608/612 on a 115 LSA) or their "C" Cam which has really similar specs to yours, but I believe with a tad more lift... which is why yours might be a nice alternative.

I'll have to contact my engine builder (BadLS1, lol)

Tom - you should just change your S/N to BadLSx

231/237 cam is an amazing cam. Awesome idle and high rpm HP. I run the larger version 233/239 .605 112 LSA. Anyone that picks up the 231/237 can will never want anything else. Brain i might be interested in the 224 cam

This looks like a really old thread, but just wondering what the install price is locally here in WI to get a cam installed? I have a 04 GTO automatic transmission, and just wanted to know what i would be looking at for a install price, and all an average total parts price?
