didn't GM do that just for nascar reasons??
off topic.....my buddy had a firebird GTA with a fiberglass hatch back. with a very small rear window instead of glass. very odd cause i never saw one of those before either. pretty cool though cause you don't see them much.
Yep, this guy has some info here, if anybody cares... http://www.classicresto.com/mambo/content/view/96/48/Originally Posted by Berettaspeed
Yep, all for NASCAR...the MCSS itself was basically designed for NASCAR so they could use the aerodynamic nose on the Monte's flat front end due to the Buicks success. After the Thunderbird started winning Chevy and Pontiac did the rear window thing to help(and it did). Not a big NASCAR fan but gotta know some of the history I guess...
Is that black 2+2 the one from Waukesha? I've seen a few in the area, only like 1,000 made in 86' or so. 200 86' MCSS aeros and 6,052 87's.
86' MCSS - 13.35 @103
87' MCLS - 14.55 @96
02' Regal GS - Who cares
Saw the silver one heading northbound past Oscars just past 7:00 last night.
100-0 faster than your 0-60
I got both those pics from a google image search

Oh yea and it's TransAm GTA not firechicken
Anybody ever heard of a "Warbird" Firebird? Mid-80's? This dork I used to work with had one, he claimed it to be rarer than hen's teeth... I thought it was ugly as hell...
I googled the warbird, pictures that came up that seemed relivant to this were of a ugly 78 Firebird, idk but it looked almost like it had a hilborn injection setup. But anyways back to topic I saw the abbomination in question last night. Bubble window makes it look like a fish bowl.
