    1995 Z-28

I have one with 113,000 miles on it, nothing wrong I build 383 Stroker LT1's out of them, do you have a core? If so $1,500.00 complete and your core engine.

Its a 1995 Z-28 LT1 I sold a customer in Charolette NC a 650 HP Merlin Race 454 Race engine for his Z and I took this in on trade towards it, he is on camaroz28 dot com with this car..

Come up to my shop this weekend.

Im building a go cart I'm sick of you LSx fvckers Some one has to clean the garbage up from the streets

    J/K

Do I dare say I have cracked my block? I was out having fun, noticed a real loud tick (not exhaust), came home popped the valve covers and noticed milky colored oil, popped the radiatior cap real low on anti freeze... Only one conclusion.
So I got mad and said screw it I need a motor and I'm gonna build it.

Thanks for the offer but $1,500.00 is kinda steep for that many miles.

No I dont jump to conclusions too much. The motor has gone to shiat, it only has 185k miles on it so I think it is time to put another motor in.

I think you can preorder LS7's from GM right now?

Have you tried that online junkyard search? There's gotta be somthing at the local yards?

Use that one as a core and build a 383 or budget 355 or somthing. The people who generally pull a running lt1 do it to put in somthing bigger. They are also usually the same people who beat the snot out of it until they decide they needed more power then it could offer. Why not just take it in and have a basic rebuild with forged pistons that will handle some power. Eagle offers some low priced kits that can handle alot more hp then stock and will probably cost you only $1000 more in the end for a much stronger/reliable setup.

I'd like to stay in the budget of 2g's and save the rest for paint.
I really dont wanna mod the pizz out of it since gas prices are high.

Just really looking for a drop in and go motor so I wouldnt really have any down time.

IMO a used backup motor is going to cost almost as much and if somthing goes wrong its going to cost more. Just reuse the crank and rods, get some new forged pistons and have a local shop rebuild it. This is all very possible for under 2k and then you at least have somthing reliable. Do it once and do it right once....cheaper in the end.

I can only imagine how much it would cost....if you are selling a 113k engine for $1500. I sold my old block with 81k on it for $250, with no cam or timing.

Yea, You should be able to find a lt1 with less miles for around $250-$600 I wouldn't pay more than that. Heck I know a guy selling a LS1 and Trans for $3000 with something like 20,000 miles on it; you might as well buy that if you are going to drop $1500 on an LT1.

Side note, are you sure it just isn't a head gasket?

Werd...Even if it is a head gasket with that many miles I would redo it. Bearings are probably toast as it is and I'm sure the gasket/cracked head issue didn't help.

Yeah thats what Im thinking that it is a head gasket cause it is puffing a little bit of white smoke that doesnt appear normal and enough h2o comes out of the exhaust pipes to make a good size puddle.

I did an oil change like a month ago and filtered the oil and there were no shaving in the oil so the bearings are good. Its just got this sharp ticking on the drivers side, it could be a floating valve or a tired spring.

But if it is a head gasket I'm going to do some P&P, Flow Bench, New Valvetrain parts and a wicked cam.
The bottom end Ill just leave for later since this is just going to be a cruising car for now.

Now what to get in valvetrain parts, I want the best that I can get for a reasonable price and a big cam (501- 503?)Something nice and lopey that can produce power also, I dont want no mild cam BS like the LT4 HC.

man sorry but I have never seen an LT1 that cheap, I have that much in this engine and its not really for sale as its a core for a 383 build, I just offered it to you as your a member here and no one else has one for sale on here, but I would snap up every one for that price if I ever seen them, one like this sells for over $2k on ebay.

But yeah, either put dye in the anti freeze to find the leak, or pull it and have the heads and block magna fluxed, I would mic the crank and install new bearings, measure the piston bores to see if you can re-ring it, get the heads done, those new bee-hive springs can be installed with no machine work, a comp cams cc306, and 1.6 roller rockers, check out www.competitionproducts.com up in Oshkosh they have good prices and are local. You should really have the crank turned as when you rebuild the top end the crank will spin a rod bearing usually on a LT1 if its not done at the same time with anything over 80k miles... oh and Edelbrock is coming out with a new LT4 Performer Intake, GM Quit selling the LT4 intake and pulled them all off the shelves, the e-bay hackers are selling used ones now for $800
