    91 Camaro z28

So my buddy has a z28 and wants to begin modding it which i will help him with, but first things first...We need to take the limiter/govenor off of it.Now i read that their reali isnt a govenor on it but its actually controlled by the ecu, but u can by pass the speed senor to the ecu by installing a inline switch and turning the signal off to the ecu. My question is Which wire is it? I cant find ne wiring diagrams and i was wodnering if any oen on here could help.
    Thanks
    J

hm its a 91, and he is planning on letting me spend half his paycheck from now till summer modding helping him mod it.Right now its stock but their is a setting in the ecu that cuts off fuel or something at 110 mph we just want to bypass some how b4 we put headers and a dump on his car next week.

I suspect you'd need a custom burned chip with the speed limiter removed. 110MPH ain't that bad, you'd need a lot of mods to surpass that in the 1/4 mi Might wanna try checking www.thirdgen.org they have a ton of information.

Hmmm... I happen to have a 91 Z-28 with a stock chip (so far) and have gone passed that 110 MPH limit no problem. The cutoff for the 91 Z w/ a 5.7 TPI is about 156 and the RS w/ a 305 TBI is about 127... I have/had both so I'm pretty sure of those numbers. Not too sure if the 305 Z's had the lower cutoff, but either way, it's not 110. But I agree that you should check out www.thirdgen.org

They have a HUGE knowledge base and practlicly every question under the sun has already been asked and answered.

I think there is a difference in the speed limiter between auto and stick, that might be why it 110? dont know? I have read articles a long time ago about making a switch to turn it off. I decided against it because it shuts off the speedo gauge and the signal to the ecm telling it how fast your going. If you turn that off it things your sitting still and it will do wierd stuff.

I had both stick and auto and neither one had a problem passing that 110 mark.

    dont bother with the chip.
headers arent going to take 4 seconds off your mid to high 15sec 1/4 tme.
So you dont need the chip, heres what i would do

complete 3inch exhaust i like hooker aerochamber with some slp headers 1 3/4 ceramic.then save up for some nice 87 and later heads and go carb with a nice intake power band some where in the 1500 to 6 range.not hard to do at all.then get some 3.73's with posi from slp its like 100bux its the stock units from 4th gens.and then if its auto get a vette servo and a .500 boost valve and a transgo shift kit and if yah want a 2800-3000stall.
