I haz buggy ;)
Well i sold my emaxx and came up with a spare $200 so the guy at work i race with talked me into buying this buggy. Will probably be running stock buggy right now it has all losi elec. plus a spektrum servo. And a 13.5 motor :( debating whether i rip it out and put the ss in it to race tomarrow night or do i throw in the d3.5 to see what it does hmm... waiting for the new esc for the truck anyways :( Any one know where i should start for gearing on this thing i know nothing about buggies and altho it looks bad ass i'm sure i'll drive it horribly until i get the feel for it. Will also be needing a body and have a paint scheme idea for this one. Probably going to take my time and see what i can do. Here it is as it sits i believe it was a rtr version

Nice!!! I pick up my new one tomorrow! But that buggy is great! Gotta do the 17.5 stock class and have fun. I'm so jealous
-
what size spur do you have in it? I used a 76 and 33 but that was a viper set up. I would go with a 70 something spur with at least 28 on up for gearing. But that is with a 17.5 set up.
-
Yea it had with the 13.5 23/76 so I had a28 to throw in it just to feel it out. I did put the trinity D3.5 in so I guess I'll find out tomorrow how it drives plus we have a fresh track I heard
-
There is a new track layout and it is going to be some air for sure. You may want to throw the 13.5 in there for the hell of it!

Re: I haz buggy ;)
Nice I need to get a 17.5 set up for mine so I can run the buggy class.
-
its great my battery wires dont clear the windshield so i had to cut it out. Do they make lower profile plugs or like 90* ones for these things?
-
time for some shorty battery packs
since all my batteries are hardpacks with the bullet female connectors I hardwire the male side to the esc wires. No traxxas plugs or deans, nothing.
You could probably take these -

and then slit one of the sides with a dremel and solder it in there, then heat shrinkwrap it with the right color and it should work out

Thats the way mine are wired. Stop by and I'll show you.

Will be doing that this week. Speed control will come in the for truck i believe friday. Motor will come out of buggy back into truck and i'll be waiting for a motor for the buggy again. Can't go racing this friday but hoping to shoot for next week with the truck since the buggy was all kinds of fun, but the radio that came with it was just not how i was liking it so i'll need a reciever to match it back to my futaba and see how i like it. Tires were falling apart on it as well so i'll need a new set of those.
-
I did get new bullets for my current batteries to wire at a 90* got one done haven't test fitted yet but i'm sure they'll fit just fine now. Got a new body for it right away friday night. Just got around to putzing with the design i was going for to complement the sc10 so far i'm loving the time i put into it. My fingers are sore from running the hobby knife but it should look good :)

now i'm torn Do i do black wheels or do i get white ones and dye them purple? hmm Anouther thing i noticed the only night i raced it. The buggy seems to push thru the corners pretty bad. I have to slow way down compared to most others in the stock class. It might be the worn out tires that came on it but it could also be the setup. Not sure how this was driven before i bought it so i'll probably have to start all over. Being a buggy is it much different than the truck or am i pretty much setting it up the same?
-
i always assumed they were the same.
Search Hudy Off Road Setup Manual on Google. Its a PDF file you can download and read. Lots of good information and can give recommendations based on what the car is doing.
Then just set it up like one of the base setups from the losi website and start fresh that way. That's the way I always start.

They are definetly different. Stan with the off yellow gold body runs close to this set up

Also when you go into a turn, you need to give the gas in order to get traction. Kinda like an f1 car. Thats the way it was described to me as.
-
hmm mine seems to get light in the front under power. So mines doing the opposite lol i'll have to take a look at those setups and see how it compares to what ive got. I need to fix a bent camber link since the previous owner railed something
