the link ben gave me is telling me I get about 5.5mbps.
now it dropped to 3.27
Ricky Bobby (Tony) would know which speedtest to use better than I would.
His link: http://speedtest.ohiordc.rr.com
That server is in Ohio and jumps through a bunch of RR routers in Chicago. Should be a good test, although it is quite a few hops away. I will try it from home when I get home. :thumbsup
Looks like the link I gave is a little slow:
------------------------------------------------------------------
File size transferred : 59.01 MB (61874896 bytes)
Total time taken : 25.77 seconds (25767 milliseconds)
Throughput : 2401.0 KB/sec [Kilobyte-per-second]
= 2.4 MB/sec [Megabyte-per-second]
= 19208.0 Kbps [Kilobit-per-second]
= 19.21 Mbps [Megabit-per-second]
Those are my results from a GigE pipe via an OC-12 (622mbps). Only got ~20mbps so I imagine it is a dated speedtest server/connection.
tonys link had been giving me speeds of 16mbps pretty consistently. after waiting awhile, I am getting 4mbps or less.
The ohiordc link is obviously TW ohio server, although it is more of a distance it tends to run fairly well... and as tony said much better interface than the milwaukee one.
Nightmare - what has changed since your 16Mb/s test? If anything. Are their more computers on your network? Diff programs opened up? anything at all...
Running three seperate speedtests they all stayed pretty close.
TW MIL -11.79Mb/s
TW OHIO - 12.87Mb/s
Speedtest.net - 12.65Mb/s
For what it is worth, I went form TW RR to ATT DSL and love it. My old TW would cut out every now and then, but ATT is always perfect. Also went from $45 a month to $19.99 a month for faster speed.
I have Roadrunner 7mb service in Waukesha.

Pork where do you live again? How many people in your area? Is it an older neighbor hood?
There are so many contributing factors in speed and the only way you are going to get anyone to look at it and fix it is if you are getting shit speeds on their network. Like ben said, once you leave their network, go fuck yourself is what they will say.
What I find funny is you guys are bitching about 7 meg service for 50 bucks. Should probably call and get upgraded for 10 bucks more for double the speed.
I'm off capitol and hwy 100, old neighborhood lines were updated 15 or so years ago as far as I can tell.
im only paying $35 for my 7meg service
I'm getting about 9mbps down on the Ohio server. I have turbo (15mpbs). I'm in a pretty populated area (57th and Lincoln-ish) so it's pretty common for speeds to drop a bit. I will see close to 30mbps later at night.
Here's a speed test to the New York server I was talking about. Pretty much the same as what RR's server in Ohio scored:

I wanna be cool like everybody else.

On the other link
10.20 Mbps
0.47 Mbps
36 ms
I fail at direct post.
My shit is slow today.

My plan is 6mbs down and 1mbs upload
So im not that bad for $20 a month
