then go to bed and wakeup refreshed. ditch the fast for BS3 and never look back. whats another 3k at this point.
$3k:wow You putting up the dough? Besides it would be $3000 and have to rewire a SHIT ton of stuff.
FAST will get the job done. They just need to do a better job of documenting/communicating the way the product is supposed to work. And customer service needs to be revamped all-together. :fire
Here is what needs to be done on the ignition side of things:
- Buy new (or more likely used) LS2/LS3/LS7 coil packs for like $100-200 for the set
- New coil end connectors on existing plug wires
- Pull engine, make new coil mounting bracket and mount LS coils
- Repin custom ignition harness to use XIM EST Outputs. Create new coil sub-harness(es)
- Send in XIM to get warrantied. That, or if FAST can't get their act together I could just remove the totally fried inverter buffer IC inside the XIM. There is a 50/50 shot that the Murray warranty work would fix enough of it that the EST outputs would begin firing again.
The latter 2 I can handle. So... basically
~$200-250 in parts
- whatever he can sell the remaining good MSD blaster coils for.
= Beats $3000 any day.
The ignition issue is not the real source of Jim's frustration.
I have to agree with what others have said Jim. The car is way too cool to not finish it and enjoy it. Take a break for a few days. You'll get your enthusiasm back! We are all excited to see it run man! :)
Sell the bitch then hang yourself Jim. That is probably the best option.
Jim, you, Murray, Ron, and others have a ton of time, blood, sweat, and tears into that car. What you are trying to do is something that is cutting edge, and WHEN it works, will set the bar for others. You wanted this car to show off what you can do, as well as others, dont give up on that now. Take a break, go race some asa races, and come back refreshed and ready to go on this project. Dont let some asshat who buys the car off of you take credit for all of your hard work
:rolf:rolf:rolf:rolf
Finish the car and quit your phukkin' crying-you are better than that.
I think there are plenty of people on this website that deserve all the credit for building their cars, whether all by themselves OR with help. The shops they choose to help them deserve all the credit too, because NO ONE knows everything or can do everything "the best". If everyone did the same thing, this stuff would be boring. Just because we all have "our" people that help us out, doesn't mean "we" have all the answers. Mark, I am very happy you are getting your car where you want it, and with great help. You have worked a long time at it and it is paying off. Kudos to the people that have helped to make it happen. Wouldn't it be fun to be a fly on the wall of every shop or garage that has one of these "fast" cars in it. I am willing to bet big money we ALL share in the same problems, but our ego's won't allow us to talk about it. As I have said before, I am just a dummy with great help. It is great to win-there is no denying that, but the learning we do paves the path to that.
I wish the best of luck to all and their programs.
Hell, my stuff always falls of the trailer...going fast well, thats a different story:D
Its always something!! But a small price to pay for having basically a 1 of a kind ride.
Coop and I pulled engine to replace the coils, Suprise comming tonite:banana1:
NICE !! That's what I like to hear.
Its just a matter of time now.
Well got the car painted in 2 days after getting a earful from people. Has some little flaws, but at 200 mph who will see them :rolf.
