Good numbers! Really damn impressive for just 5L

That is pretty god damn impressive! Granted the power is a little out of reach though at 6600 and it is a dyno jet putting on the show... ill give credit though! By way of comparison my car with just 88 miles and RFS made 390/385 at obviously a lower RPM with 1.2L more disp. I wish one could see a graph to note wether it actuall makes alot of power under the curve too, then im gonna have to open my fucking wallet.
Here's the graph:
http://blogs.insideline.com/straight...stang_dyno.jpg
My take is it's an impressive engine...
but I think inside line is grasping too hard for answers (severely underrated, making up for past,
bloody the camaro/etc), as to why it's making much more power than expected...
...when the other answer could be "This might be an optimistic dyno..." could suffice
as well.
Before I read crying about me bad mouthing ford (especially from DRK), it might not be either.
Never-the-less, we'll just have to wait for more dyno's and track times to see.
Still damn impressive for a 5.0h.
By the way im not trying to jack the thread by posting this, or creating drama FYI, its for COMPARISON.

Yeah i think the weight advatange to the mustang will help it alot, its prob 300 some odd pounds lighther. Yeah mine is a right in the avg for stock and slightly above avg for the mods. Im pretty excited for this new mustang now that it has some formidable clout right out of the box. I bet this car and mine from a 40 punch would be pretty much door handle to door handle. Lol its such a strange feeling getting all amped of over cars that are very much slow by others standards these days.
Very good numbers right out of the box! All that matters tommy is the highway should be fun once these start hitting the streets. Should make for some good ol fashioned street light drag races!
I can't wait to hear one of those with a decent exhaust system/LTs.
Actually, I think it sounds damned good for a stock exhaust. Also, from what I've read, there is VERY little to be gained from LT headers (10hp maybe) on this engine. Ford pulled out most of the stops on the design of this thing, so unless you don't mind spending money on minute gains, save your money for the forged pistons to go with the blower or turbo system that will inevitably find it's way onto this engine. With the stock head flow of the new 5.0 mod head (best for any mod motor yet) and the kinda big (by stock standards) cams, this thing will flat shit on most any new domestic in a similar state of modification.
Tommy, with you lugging 4000 pounds of imported Government Motors pig around along with that bullshit IRS, you had BETTER open that wallet of yours... :D
I stand corrected on my above statment about it being roughly 300 lbs lighter, they are nearly identical w/o driver.

Where do I sign?
Yikes! The mustange just gave up its weight advantage?
It was looking so good with the stock power it was putting out, but once you put the weight back into the equation it's not going to be all that fast.
All new cars are pigs. Amazing how a 3300# sports car these days is a lightweight. :chair:
Well, I'm sure it'll be fast.....What's interesting is MT put some older articles related to the mustang in anticipation of the return of the 5.0...and had articles from 83 even, featuring the 83 stang and camaro, as well as the upcoming 84 Dodge Daytona turboZ
The camaro was the porker of the group at 3100#
...followed by the Daytona at 2600#
While the 'stang was the sveltest of the group at 2550# :wow
(for the record, 1/4 mile was camaro in 15.5, 'stang in 16.1, and Daytona 16.4...so, despite the light weight, the lack of hp was killing them, lol. Highest hp was the camaro at 190, 'stang at 175, Daytona 142hp)
Where in thee fuck did you source that BS from?
Here are Fords' specs for the car:
http://media.ford.com/images/10031/2...g_GT_Specs.pdf
The car gains almost no weight from the 2010 car and according to C&D their 2010 test vehicle weighed 3580lbs.
Which is to say it weighs 3605#?
According to the vintage '83 MT article is did:
http://www.motortrend.com/features/a...son/specs.html
lol, I think they forgot a 1 for the kg rating.
159.1 kg (2550.0 lb)
I remember weights on the sticker inside the door jam were lighter than normal, maybe a shipping weight or something like that.
Yeah. Even with a full tank of gas and a 200lb driver this thing shouldn't be as heavy as Tom's specs showed. It's a smaller car than a Camaro, and it doesn't have that oh-so-sophisticated dead weight wheel hopping IRS trying to make it sink to the core of the planet. Ford went all out to make sure that the incoming Coyote 4V engine weighed no more than the outgoing 3V 4.6. The only real appreciable weight gain, near as I can tell, are the new transmissions. They probably account for the weight discrepancy between the '10 and the '11 model years.
Motor trend has done a dyno session as well with both the GT and v6 stangs.
Their dyno (K&N's shop dyno) was a little less optimistic and returned 365hp in 3rd gear, 377hp in 4th. (still impressive, don't get me wrong---and still suggesting that it's either underrated or perhaps still a little optimistic)
The V6 returned 267hp in 4th gear.

Inside Line may have also gone ahead and used 5th gear as opposed to MT which used 3rd and 4th. I disagree with MT's assessment that with the rear gearing (3.31:1) that 5th would have been too steep for a dyno pull. Also, there is an optional final drive for this car (3.73:1) and they may have had this and made a 5th gear pull. I'm not saying this is what they did, but it may account for the discrepancy. :confused
Yea FWIW the car should have been dyno'd in 5th..
The whole point is the dyno that car in a 1:1 ratio to try to minimize the drive-train loss.
Doesn't really matter though you are splitting hairs I would say it safe to say they dyno around 380 and will weight just over 3600. Pretty impressive.
P.S. There is nothing wrong with an IRS if you plan to use the car to turn. Also you have to actually make a decent one unlike the one in the 03 cobra.

Thats pretty cool! Thats faster than 03-04 cobras' ran stock! Finally, a bone stock ford motor that doesnt need FI to be respectable.
Watch the V6 vid, check out the wheel hop though, its worse than my IRS turd! Not nearly as bad from the V8 car, but its there.
Im aching to come across one of these on the street yet for a little touch em up session... But what a much improved car over the 05-09's is! I first just noticed the new changes in the interior now, much more GM-like ford stuff is getting interior wise, thats good!
Wow this is the first mustang I've liked since the foxes.
I wonder if 3640 is the real weight?
