Well went to West Bend Dyno today and it was not a good day! Car made 658 N/A @ 7300 rpm and the timing belt broke. New Jesel set up nothing you can do. will order parts monday. So off to paint it went.
n/a? just left it collector open or something without the turbo sitting on it?
keep ur head up sh#t happens i no u will get handle:thumbsup:headbang
The first mini pass we made on WG spring pressure was in the 650s. However at the end of that pass is when we started to see symptoms of the mechanical issues (sparks from the timing area).
The next pass was a full pass to check a few minor adjustments and get a rough tune on it at gate pressure (3psi). However this time it made a little less (630) while it was milling itself a new cam pulley design... It got so hot the timing belt actually fused to the cam pulley!
I saved the log... Fuel looked pretty damn good just needed to be smoothed out to follow the natural VE a little better, and the timing was still pretty conservative. The logs showed 2.54psi... hence Jim calling it "N/A". Overall the numbers actually looked pretty damn good and close to what we expected out of it. It doesn't take rocket science to extrapolate out what the thing would do, even with the conservative tune, once the boost comes up and the turbo wakes up from the 3psi coma it is in.
on the small pass it did i could fell the vibrations in my chest. definitely cool
i just asked cause i didn't know how you would test a turbo car n/a :) now i know! haha.
either way, hope it all gets takencare of Jim!
here is the pictures of the timing pulley and belt got so hot melted the teeth trying to start it. Bolt head in timing cover was hitting.

^^^^ thats bad ass, making some power i'm sure once the boost wakes it up...
Ouch, looks like a cam thrust plate nut came off.
what a teaser.... you get it on the dyno and cant even she what shes got!
(impatiently awaiting next dyno visit for numbers and video clips!)
someone better strap a camera down hard, or that turbo will suck it right out of someones hands! Yaaaa Budddy
Ouchie :(
